سرايا - An international career is a dream of millions of young people. It is a chance to get a highly demanded profession, work with advanced technologies, and provide a better future for the family. However, the path to this goal is quite challenging.
When relocating, young specialists encounter a complex range of issues. The labour market is overwhelmed with offers, but reliable openings with decent pay are extremely rare. Even with a good language level, the language barrier and adaptation to a new cultural environment major challenges — the first months are usually particularly difficult. Often, candidates encounter non-transparent employment conditions: hidden fees, shady schemes, and an absolute lack of guarantees.

 


Navigating daily life also presents significant difficulties. Renting housing in the first year consumes a substantial part of the income, and finding a safe neighbourhood in an unfamiliar city turns into a hard quest. Moreover, many employers require years of experience, which junior specialists simply do not have. Finally, moving to a foreign country without the support of loved ones is an emotional ordeal. These issues are especially acute for girls: safety and clear guarantees in a new place are critical for them.
International employment programmes

Despite all the difficulties, businesses are in desperate need of personnel. Therefore, in recent years, new programmes have started to appear, designed to simplify moving to another country, offer comfortable living conditions, and provide a choice of professional fields.
One such example can be found in the Alabuga special economic zone in Russia, which offers a fundamentally different approach to labour migration. The Alabuga Start employment programme was created specifically for young specialists from abroad and solves the key problems they face.
From day one, the participants receive an official labour contract, clearly understand their rights and obligations, enjoy social protection, and can count on state support measures. Transparent conditions without intermediaries relieve a lot of anxiety: the girls know they will not be left alone with their problems.
“The company representatives are incredibly welcoming, and we enjoy working together. When we have a problem, they look into it and provide us with the best support. They listen to us and kindness; we are very happy with them,” says Ellise from Sri Lanka.

 

 



The programme organizers have also taken care of safe accommodation. Instead of long searches and overpayments, there is a closed territory and convenient infrastructure: safe corporate hostels with round-the-clock security, video surveillance, and Face ID access.
“The living conditions are great,” notes Kateana, an Alabuga Start programme participant from Ecuador. “Access to all buildings is through the Face ID system, and there are cameras inside the buildings as well. The corporate hostels are excellent and meet our needs.”



This approach solves the main problem of migration: girls from different countries do not have to worry about their safety. They live in a comfortable environment, share experiences, and support each other while being far from home.
There are no work experience requirements for potential participants. The girls learn professions right at the workplace under the guidance of mentors in high-demand fields — for example, in Production and Logistics. The schedule is structured to provide time for rest and entertainment.


“Actually, everything started very smoothly at work,” recalls Kateana. “I was welcomed warmly, and my female colleagues showed a kind attitude.”
The programme provides not just a job, but a clear professional growth trajectory.
“My new life chapter has turned out to be interesting and full of emotions,” shares Madelaine from Ecuador, who moved to Russia. “This is the beginning of a thrilling adventure. I am incredibly satisfied with the Alabuga Start programme, as it is much more than just employment. It is a driving force that contributes to my professional happiness. Knowing that every step I take has a purpose and that the opportunities for growth are limitless gives me a deep sense of fulfilment. The opportunities offered by the programme are endless: it not only allows me to apply my analytical approach in a new environment but also paves the way for future career growth!”

 

 



Professional development in Alabuga Start
During several months of adaptation, the participants learn the Russian language for everyday and workplace communication, acquire highly demanded skills, build a network of professional contacts, and gain experience in modern production and other areas.
The participants choose one of the seven fields and grow professionally for two years. This approach guarantees that by the end of the programme, each girl will be ready for a fully-fledged professional activity.
For example, in Logistics, the path goes from working in a warehouse to gaining the expertise of a routing and technical process control specialist. In Service and hospitality, girls master the entire cycle — from basic cleaning duties to becoming a coordinating services Administrator.



Other fields — Installation works, Finishing works, Road transport shop (driver), and Catering — are built on the same principle: a gradual build-up of skills, from simple operations to complex professional tasks.
Thus, Alabuga Start becomes not just a launchpad, but a living system of professional growth and mutual support. The girls apply the knowledge and confidence gained in Russia here and now — helping others take their first step toward an international career.
